Karen Phillips serves as Vice President of Human Resources for Providence Real Estate, where she leads the execution of the company’s vision and strategy. She partners with leadership to align human resources initiatives with Providence’s strategic goals, with responsibility for employment, compensation, employee relations, health and welfare, safety, organizational development and learning, and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Karen joined Providence in 2001 and has been instrumental in building programs that strengthen the employee experience and support the company’s growth. Prior to Providence, she served as a Human Resources Officer for Horizon Bank and a Human Resources Management Specialist for Checkpoint Meto, an international manufacturing firm. In those roles, she led HRIS and payroll conversions and ensured the integrity of Human Resources Information Systems.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management and a minor in Psychology from Valparaiso University, graduating cum laude.
Karen holds multiple professional certifications, including Professional in Human Resources (PHR, 1994), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR, 1999), and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP, 2015). She is also an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management.
