Karen Phillips is Vice President, Human Resources for Providence Real Estate, responsible for executing on a shared corporate vision and strategy for the company.
In this role, Karen has been instrumental in integrating human resources initiatives into the strategic goals of Providence, including employment, compensation, employee relations, health and welfare, safety, organization development and learning, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Before joining Providence in 2001, Karen’s previous experience was as a Human Resources Officer for Horizon Bank and a Human Resources Management Specialist for Checkpoint Meto, an international manufacturing firm. In those positions she was the lead on HRIS/payroll conversions and responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Human Resources Information System.
She holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management and a Minor in Psychology from Valparaiso University, graduating Cum Laude.
Karen achieved her Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR) in 1994 and her Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification (SPHR) in 1999 through the Human Resources Certification Institute. She is an active professional member in the Society for Human Resources Management and achieved her SHRM Senior Certified Professional Certification (SHRM-SCP) in 2015.
